Suicide By Ogbeni Olalekan

SUICIDE

As wide as this square is

Though the geographers

Proof it to be spherical

Rotating round all odds and evens

There’ll always be time

The cloud will cover the sky

And we won’t be able to judge

If it’ll rain or not

If it rains on you today

The sun will surely rise

Tomorrow and you’ll be dried

Don’t be in a hurry to go

Dear friend,

When that time comes

That the rotation of the odds

Reached and you’re left alone

Embrace it, for it won’t last

Longer than you may project

You’ll be served with a plate

With which you love to eat

Meaning the even has reached

Dear Suicide Victims,

What do you want us to say

When you’ve refused to stay

By switching light off on yourself

And biding farewell in a horrible manner

Readers,

We shouldn’t be economical

In spreading the truth to world

That buying oneself the farm

Nor biting the dust yourself

Should never be an option

No matter cloudy the sky may be

Turn right, there’ll always be a light

No matter how dark a tunnel may be

Look deep, there’s always a light at the end

DEPRESSION IS REAL BUT SUICIDE IS NEVER THE SOLUTION OUT OF IT.

SAY NO TO SUICIDE
